Roaming around in Chandini Chowk

Image
Walking in Chandini Chowk, Delhi in 90s Chandini Chowk had been a great stress buster for me in 90s and early 2000s. Used to get a bus from Mayur Vihar to ITO and from ITO to Daryaganj and another bus to Chandini chowk , yes it was quite a deal. But when I bought my first Bajaj scooter, the distance and weather did not matter to me. Delhi's hot weather or extreme cold weather too did not deter me from exploring Chandini Chowk and adjoining areas. I loved the chaos there, I used to wonder on items being sold in shops there. I bought many electric items from there and then bunked classes in college to see all 'B' and 'C' grade movies in all old wobbly theaters in Chandini Chowk. Man , I miss those days!!! One of the old cinemas hall used to be Kumar cinemas bang on the main road. Tickets were cheap and I could afford to buy balcony ticket. Screen was awkwardly placed for the balcony tickets, it was at 40 degrees below the horizontal line and it really surp...

Cycle ka tyre

Cycle ka Tyre I remember my childhood days during summer vacations when it was too hot outside, I will take out my tyre and will roll it using stick and take it approx. 1 km to my Aunt's place. I wont mind the heat at that time and only wanted to push the cycle tyre running without letting it fall. (picture courtsey: http://khurki.net/games-played-by-the-80s-kid/) I would then hide my tyre at the electricity room which had electricity meters whizzing and cobwebs sticking to walls. It was a dark room and I was sure that nobody can steal my tyre from there. I will make such trip between home and aunt's place at least once  a day and rest of the day I will keep on driving it around my home till I am tired or its time for my father to come home. Things became interesting when my uncle gave me the cycle's steel rim wheel to drive. His cycle had become unusable and was parked at one corner with dirt, dust all over it. I had my eyes on it from a long time and one da...

Maya

This whole world is Maya which Load Krsna has created to test us all. One who gets into Maya will be reborn as one of the million creatures based on our deeds in the current life. Its very difficult to get out of Maya and attain Moksha. My question to all is why God created Maya when he knew that none can escape from it !!!! On a lighter vein about the current CWG in Delhi. I say that let not developed country's athletes come to India if they are scared of Dengu and too much sensitive about the hygine. India made a big mistake by hosting these games. Money should have been used to lower the poverty line and money should have gone to the UID project.

Pondicherry trip

Pondicherry Trip (15 Aug - 17 Aug 2008) Long weekend is coming , this thought really kept us excited for many weeks before we actually started for Pondicheery. There was sceptism around whenever we shared our plans with anybody. It would be too hot , very long distance and blah blah but we really didn't care much. Google map gave an fare idea about the route and places to see along it. We decided to follow Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Tiruvannamalai-Gingee-Pondicherry route totalling about 300 kms. A day before departure, I got the car serviced and a got a new tyre too. 15 Aug morning we started from AECS Layout, Bangalore at 7:30 am, weather was cool with earth still smelling of the rain it got drenched on the night before. It was a surprise to see the speed at which the expressway was coming up from the silk board junction till electronic city. All pillars are on place and work was going on a very fast pace. We entered NH7 and from there it was a smooth drive till Krishnagiri. Hi...
